Working globally brings with it many questions for international partnerships and employee development. These questions persist despite cross-cultural training programs across many US-based organizations:

  • Do these programs solve issues like employee turnover due to a lack of international adaption or a realistic relationship with partners?
  • Do we really know how to connect with international learners with different customs?
  • How does being global affect training delivery?

The answer lies in “breaking our perceptions to make new perspectives.” This presentation will challenge current perceptions of global business success and offer some best practices in cross-border relations and management.

We will:

  • establish why U.S. businesses fail overseas and discuss why the real root cause is different than what many businesses believe
  • define cross-cultural fluency in practical terms and review a new concept to answer the need for more reasoned globality in business and training

Before the event, please review the two short scenarios of cross-border management that will be sent to you:

  1. Training Cuban employees for a U.S. organization beginning a joint venture
  2. Gift giving options for a U.S. expat in Nicaragua (i.e. cause and effect)

You will leave this session knowing:

  • Two practices you should develop to minimize cultural barriers and maximize relationship building
  • Key factors to create a paradigm shift toward cross-cultural due diligence and meaningful international partnerships
