It seems that making video is all the rage at the moment in the learning profession.  But how many learning professionals are turning out video that looks good, seriously engages learning, is relatively inexpensive and doesn’t take forever to produce?

Jonathan Halls is the author of ASTD’s bestselling book, Rapid Video Development for Trainers.  And he believes that video will be so important for learning professionals in the future that it will be like the flipchart was to the classroom twenty years ago.

In this presentation for ASTD Atlanta, Jonathan will explain how video can help learning and what you can do as a learning professional to make your own video fast without costing the earth.  He will share from more than twenty years of experience teaching both media and learning what you can do to get started and create video that looks great and engages the learner.

Jonathan is a regular speaker at ASTD’s international conference and TechKnowledge.  His sessions are usually packed out.  Described as part college professor and part talk-show host, he makes his presentations fun and lively but crams in loads of knowledge to ensure you leave with plenty to think about.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the strengths and weaknesses of video for use in learning environments such as online, mobile and in the classroom
  • Explain how to make good quality video using an entry-level consumer camera
  • Apply a workflow that speeds up the video production process (rapid video technique)
  • Identify what makes good video and what makes bad video
  • Discuss ways to make video on the cheap without compromising quality
